Job Title: Intake Specialist

UNC Health is seeking a highly skilled Intake Specialist to join our team. As an Intake Specialist, you will play a critical role in ensuring that patient access processing is performed in accordance with procedure and documented in a timely and accurate manner in ADT and other clinical information systems.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Verify key ADT information (insurance verification, patient and guarantor demographics, etc.) to ensure patient safety, charging, coding, insurance processing, and billing accuracy.
  • Schedule all new and follow-up patient appointments as required, attempting to reschedule cancellations whenever possible.
  • Communicate cancellations to providers as necessary.
  • Complete and document all governmental, regulatory, financial, and contractual forms in accordance with procedure.
  • Utilize price estimation tools to provide accurate estimates to patients.
  • Meet departmental targets for up-front collections, including deposits, estimated amounts due, co-pays, and/or prior balances.
  • Participate in departmental QA by utilizing system work queues, making personal efforts to reduce individual errors, and making corrections.
Requirements:
  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Two years of customer service and/or clerical experience.
  • Knowledge of ADT and other clinical information systems.
Work Environment:

This is a PRN position for the Emergency Department registration and Outpatient registration. The work schedule is rotating, and the location is UNC Health, Johnston Health, Patient Registration - CL.
