Bilingual Safety Manager Job Description

Canton Drop Forge is seeking a highly skilled Bilingual Safety Manager to join our team. As a key member of our safety team, you will be responsible for developing, implementing, and overseeing all safety programs and initiatives at our facility.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Design, implement, and maintain safety policies and procedures specific to a forge shop environment, ensuring compliance with OSHA, EPA, and other applicable regulations.
  • Develop and deliver safety training programs for all employees, including topics such as hazard recognition, PPE usage, lockout/tagout procedures, and emergency response.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections, audits, and hazard assessments to identify potential risks and recommend corrective actions.
  • Lead investigations into workplace accidents, injuries, or near-misses, ensuring accurate reporting, root cause analysis, and the development of corrective/preventative actions.
  • Work closely with union representatives to ensure safety protocols are understood, enforced, and that employee concerns are addressed in a timely manner.
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant safety regulations, including maintaining up-to-date documentation, permits, and reports.
  • Promote a proactive safety culture by engaging employees at all levels in safety discussions and initiatives.
  • Oversee the safe operation and maintenance of all machinery and equipment, ensuring proper safeguards are in place and functional.
  • Address ergonomic issues and collaborate with HR on employee health and well-being initiatives.
  • Develop and manage the company's emergency response plans, including fire drills, evacuation procedures, and coordination with local emergency services.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health & Safety, Industrial Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • 5+ years of experience in safety management within a manufacturing or heavy industrial environment.
  • In-depth knowledge of OSHA, EPA, and other relevant safety regulations.
  • Experience with hazard analysis, risk assessments, and safety audits.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with both management and unionized employees.
  • Certification in safety management (e.g., CSP, CIH) is preferred.
  • Written and spoken fluency in Latin American Spanish and English required.
Working Conditions:

Primarily works in a forge shop environment with exposure to high temperatures, noise, and heavy machinery. Occasional travel for safety training and conferences may be required.
