Position Summary:


This role entails overseeing a portfolio of middle market and business banking clients, directly engaging with them to deliver tailored credit solutions.

Key duties encompass negotiating terms within credit agreements, spearheading the credit and risk approval processes, and cultivating relationships with both current and potential clients.


The Middle Market Financial Sponsors Group (MMFSG) is on the lookout for a Credit Officer to originate and structure transactions for sponsor clients.

This team is dedicated to financing Middle Market companies backed by private equity firms, typically offering Term Loan A solutions. Our sponsor clients range from Middle Market to Large Cap firms, and our transactions involve LBOs, Recaps, and Acquisition Financings across various sectors, primarily focusing on syndicated transactions.


The Commercial Credit Officer (CO) serves as a vital resource, providing expert advisory services and integrated debt capital solutions for Business Banking and Middle Market clients associated with private equity firms.

Our offerings include lines of credit, term loans, and syndicated loans, along with guidance on complex capital structures and other debt capital market solutions.

The CO is responsible for managing all related credit exposure to clients while maintaining awareness of other Bank of America products, including Investment Banking and Treasury Management, that involve credit exposure.

Utilizing product expertise, the CO delivers optimal and strategically integrated solutions for clients or prospects.

MMFSG operates in a dynamic environment characterized by a high volume of transactions and strong deal flow from large cap and middle market private equity clients.

The portfolio primarily consists of Leveraged Transactions, and familiarity with sponsor finance is advantageous.

Required

Qualifications:

  • 10+ years of experience in Commercial Credit Underwriting within Middle Market Banking and/or Leveraged Transactions, coupled with strong presentation capabilities.

Deal Evaluation:
Conduct assessments of clients and prospects along with their respective industries and sectors - make informed go/no-go recommendations,

  • Design and implement credit solutions while actively managing asset quality - Oversee the credit process from origination through to approval and booking
  • Collaborate with the sponsor coverage team and other product partners as necessary to evaluate client needs, develop integrated solutions, and deliver comprehensive banking services to clients and prospects
  • Act as Line/Credit approver in conjunction with Risk management based on the credit approval framework, driving the internal credit approval process, loan documentation, and closing
  • Must possess a strong understanding of acquisition finance and relevant documentation
  • Independently negotiate credit agreements with sophisticated client bases
  • Clearly articulate deal risks and merits for credit decision-making
  • Train and mentor junior associates
