Position Overview

The Director of Technology at MASS MoCA is responsible for shaping and guiding the institution's technology landscape, ensuring that it aligns with the organization's mission and strategic objectives. This role involves leading the technology team in developing and executing a comprehensive digital strategy that enhances operational efficiency and visitor engagement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Leadership: Drive the implementation of a forward-thinking technology vision that supports MASS MoCA's goals and values, establishing a robust foundation for future advancements.
  • Change Management: Facilitate the adoption of innovative technologies throughout the organization, ensuring that staff are equipped to leverage new tools effectively.
  • Policy Development: Create and enforce IT policies and systems that support the strategic initiatives set forth by senior management.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with executive teams to prioritize and identify key technology projects, focusing on areas such as data management and digital engagement.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage the daily operations of the IT department, including infrastructure and application management, to ensure seamless service delivery.
  • Budget Management: Develop and oversee the technology budget, monitoring expenditures and ensuring cost-effective solutions.
  • Team Development: Lead and mentor the technology team, fostering a collaborative environment that encourages innovation and excellence.
  • Vendor Relations: Build and maintain relationships with technology vendors, negotiating contracts that align with organizational needs.
  • Continuous Improvement: Stay informed about industry trends and best practices, recommending new technologies that address current and future challenges.
Qualifications
  • Education: A Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: A minimum of 8 years in IT management and leadership roles, with a proven track record of successful project implementation.
  • Skills: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and inspire others.
  • Preferred: Experience in the cultural or museum sector, with hands-on expertise in IT systems and cloud management.
Work Environment
