Position Overview:

We are in search of a proactive and results-driven Strategic National Account Executive to manage our established retail and distributor partnerships while seeking new business avenues within the wild bird seed and poultry feed markets. The successful candidate will possess a profound understanding of our offerings and excel in fostering robust customer relationships.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Strategy and Implementation:

  • Develop and maintain key account relationships, ensuring exceptional customer service.
  • Create and execute annual sales plans tailored to each major account, aligning with the company's strategic objectives.
  • Identify sales prospects, analyze market dynamics, and monitor competitor activities to refine sales tactics.
  • Formulate account-specific strategies to enhance sales growth, boost market share, and surpass revenue goals.
  • Conduct regular territory visits to engage with both existing and potential customers, dedicating up to 35% of time to direct customer interactions.
  • Propose innovative product ideas and programs customized to meet specific customer requirements.
  • Collaborate with internal teams to ensure cohesive execution of sales objectives.
  • Adjust customer pricing based on fluctuations in grain markets.
  • Oversee a diverse portfolio of SKUs, managing inventory levels to guarantee product availability and timely order fulfillment.

Territory Management and Client Relations:

  • Establish and nurture strong, enduring relationships with customers by understanding their needs, including key accounts, retailers, distributors, and brokers.
  • Enhance existing relationships while cultivating new ones within the assigned channel.
  • Manage broker and distributor relationships and agreements effectively.
  • Coordinate with inside sales representatives to ensure account activities and marketing materials are current.
  • Maintain up-to-date accounts receivable for customer accounts, addressing any discrepancies or late payments.
  • Estimate delivery timelines based on production and logistics knowledge.
  • Continuously seek to expand the customer base and identify new business opportunities to enhance market penetration.

Qualifications:

  • 4-6 years of experience in retail sales or account management, ideally within the seed or grain sectors, or the wild bird seed and poultry feed industries.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, or equivalent professional experience.
  • Demonstrated success in national account management, driving revenue growth, and establishing strong customer connections.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills for building and maintaining relationships with diverse stakeholders.
  • Results-oriented mindset with a proven ability to meet or exceed performance targets.
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of managing multiple priorities.
  • Strong negotiation, sales, presentation, and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficient in financial selling techniques and adept at forming business partnerships that facilitate sales closure.
  • Excellent time management skills to effectively juggle multiple tasks.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and quick to learn internal ERP systems.
