Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled WIC Program Assistant - Community Outreach to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the clerical operation of our WIC program, ensuring that participants receive positive customer service, maintaining confidential information, and ensuring that the program meets quality standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Clerical Duties: Assist with daily administrative tasks, such as data entry, record-keeping, and communication with clients.
- Certification Screening: Screen program applicants for income, identity, and residency, and ensure that all necessary documentation is complete.
- Voter Registration: Offer voter registration forms to adult participants at certification, recertification, and address change appointments.
- Food Instruments: Issue food instruments according to WIC package assigned by certifier or health professional.
- Client Communication: Provide verbal and written notification of ineligibility and/or termination of program benefits.
- Reporting and Records Management: Maintain participant records, update addresses, income, migrant status, name changes, transfers, and terminations, and request records for transfer participants.
Requirements
- Education: High school diploma or GED required.
- Skills: Basic knowledge of computers and ability to work in a Windows environment, type 50 wpm, pleasant phone manner, bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred, experience working in professional office environment, and adequate means of transportation.
Salary and Benefits
This is a contingent position with an estimated hourly salary of $15.00. The schedule is Monday through Friday, daytime hours, with no weekends, evenings, or holidays. We offer a drug-free workplace and are an Equal Opportunity Employer.
