Job Description
">This Primary Care Physician Assistant position offers an autonomous practice opportunity within a Standard Care Arrangement (SCA) or Supervision Agreement (SA) at University of Toledo Physicians. As a key member of our team, you will diagnose, treat, and manage individuals or populations of patients in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
">Key Responsibilities
">- ">
- Diagnose and treat patients autonomously, working closely with physicians as needed">
- Assess physical and psychosocial status of patients through interview, health history, physical examinations, and diagnostic studies">
- Cordinate care with physician, initiate requests for laboratory, radiology, and diagnostic studies as indicated">
- Evaluate and monitor patient response to health and disease, provide education and counseling as appropriate">
- Determine eligibility of patients for entry into clinical trials as necessary">
- Triage phone calls from outpatients, manage patient care problems, and follow up on complex care concerns">
- Request written consultation from physicians and other healthcare professionals to ensure quality patient care">
- Demonstrate competence in practice outlines with SCA, using methods of quality care review, periodic peer review, and clinical outcomes evaluations">
- Maintain provision of preventative health services, conduct daily multidisciplinary rounds, and ensure quality care for assigned patients">
- Provide education to patients, families, and staff about disease process and treatment">
- Initiate/communicate discharge-planning needs to patients/social workers in timely manner">
- Participate in interdisciplinary continuous quality improvement in patient care">
Requirements
">To be successful in this role, you must have:
">- ">
- Graduate of an accredited Nurse Practitioner Program or Physician Assistant Program; Master's Degree in appropriate field">
- Current licensure/certification to practice as Advanced Practice Nurse or Physician Assistant">
- Ability to work nights only, holidays, and weekends">
- Tolerance for busy environment requiring constant interaction with patients, employees, students, residents, and physicians">
- Ability to operate various types of office equipment, including but not limited to: Personal computer, fax machines, copiers, telephones">
- Exposure to communicable diseases and/or body fluids, toxic substances, medicinal preparations, and other conditions common to a clinic environment on a daily basis">
