Job Overview

Position: IBM API Connect Specialist

Work Type: Contract

Location: Remote

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, develop, and sustain APIs utilizing IBM API Connect.
  • Create and execute RESTful APIs, microservices, and SOAP-based web services.
  • Work collaboratively with both front-end and back-end teams to ensure seamless API integration with various applications.
  • Oversee the complete API lifecycle, which includes planning, design, execution, testing, and deployment.
  • Assess and enhance API performance, dependability, and security.
  • Enforce API security measures, including OAuth, OpenID, and management of API keys.
  • Draft and uphold detailed API documentation.
  • Offer technical assistance and resolve API-related challenges.
  • Engage with stakeholders to collect and evaluate API requirements.

Qualifications:

  • At least 5 years of experience with IBM EAI tools such as IBM API Connect and IBM MQ.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline (or equivalent professional experience).
  • Demonstrated experience with IBM API Connect or comparable API management solutions.
  • Extensive background in API design, development, and deployment.
  • Understanding of RESTful and SOAP APIs, microservices architecture, and web services.
  • Familiarity with API security protocols (OAuth, OpenID, etc.).
  • Proficient in programming languages such as Java or Python.
  • Experience with cloud services like AWS, Azure, or IBM Cloud.
  • Knowledge of DevOps methodologies and CI/CD processes.
  • Familiarity with version control systems such as Git.
  • Certification in IBM API Connect is advantageous.
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
