Position Overview

The primary objective of this role is to deliver immunization services to children aged 0-18 years and to monitor immunization adherence for the youth of Craven County.

Key Responsibilities

50% Immunization Delivery and Monitoring

Administers immunizations appropriate for various age groups in accordance with local and state regulations.
Provides guidance to parents and guardians regarding the advantages and potential side effects of immunizations, adhering to established guidelines.
Facilitates follow-up for overdue immunizations.
Records care provided following local protocols.
Generates immunization compliance reports.
Orders vaccines as necessary.

45% Support in Child Health Primary Care Clinic

In the absence of the Child Health LPN II, returns necessary communications from patients and pharmacies.
Reviews patient records prior to healthcare provider evaluations for additional health requirements, such as immunizations and well-child visits.
Assists with clinical procedures as needed.
Ensures a smooth patient flow within the clinic to avoid delays.
Responsible for the upkeep of the clinic's emergency cart, oxygen supply, and isolation room log on a monthly rotation with fellow clinic nurses.

4% Community Outreach

Conducts immunization tracking in private medical offices that utilize state-supplied vaccines.
Participates in health fairs and educational institutions to administer immunizations as required.

1% Additional Responsibilities

In case of an emergency, may be called upon to provide assistance, including serving as a healthcare professional in a shelter.

Other tasks as assigned by Supervisor or Management.

Qualifications

Completion of a state-accredited practical nursing program and a minimum of one year of practical nursing experience, which includes advanced or in-service training relevant to the assigned area; or graduation from a state-accredited practical nursing program that includes a pharmacology course, or completion of an approved pharmacology course upon graduation that equips the individual with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for medication administration as required by the work environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Must hold a valid license to practice as a practical nurse in North Carolina issued by the NC Board of Nursing.
