Immunization Nurse Specialist

The primary responsibility of this role is to provide immunization services to children aged 0-18 years and to monitor compliance with immunization schedules for the youth of Craven County.
Key Responsibilities1. Immunization Administration and Follow-Up (50%)
Administers age-appropriate vaccinations in accordance with local and state regulations.
Provides guidance to parents and guardians regarding the advantages and potential side effects of vaccinations, adhering to established guidelines.
Facilitates follow-up for any overdue immunizations.
Records all care provided following local protocols.
Generates immunization reports and orders vaccines as necessary.
2. Support in the Child Health Primary Care Clinic (45%)
In the absence of the Child Health LPN II, manages incoming calls from patients and pharmacies.
Reviews patient records prior to examinations by healthcare providers to identify additional health care needs, such as immunizations and well-exam requirements.
Assists with procedures conducted within the clinic environment.
Ensures a smooth patient flow within the clinic to avoid congestion.
Responsible for the upkeep of the clinic's emergency cart, oxygen supply, and isolation room log on a monthly basis in collaboration with other nursing staff.
3. Outreach Activities (4%)
Conducts immunization tracking in private physician offices that utilize state-supplied vaccines.
Participates in health fairs and school events to administer vaccinations as required.
4. Additional Responsibilities (1%)
In the event of an emergency, may be called upon to assist as necessary, including serving as a health professional in a shelter setting.
Other duties as assigned by Supervisors or Management.Qualifications
Completion of a state-accredited practical nursing program and a minimum of one year of practical nursing experience, which includes advanced or in-service training relevant to the assigned area; or graduation from a state-accredited practical nursing program that includes a pharmacology course, or completion of an approved pharmacology course post-graduation that equips the individual with the necessary knowledge, skills, and abilities for medication administration as required by the work environment; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must hold a valid license to practice as a practical nurse in North Carolina as issued by the NC Board of Nursing.
