Aviation Maintenance Specialist for Emergency Services

About the Position
The role involves performing essential technical tasks related to the upkeep and repair of EMS helicopters, alongside additional responsibilities as required. The position operates under the guidance of the EMS Aircraft Maintenance Director.
Applicants must reside within a one-hour commute of the designated hangar.
The work schedule consists of 7 consecutive days on duty followed by 7 days off.
Key Responsibilities
- Ensure helicopters are maintained in a state of operational readiness; conduct routine maintenance and inspections following Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and manufacturer protocols for engines, airframes, and avionics.
- Evaluate, test, diagnose, maintain, and repair helicopters, including structural, mechanical, electrical, and electronic systems.
- Assess the airworthiness of helicopters and review maintenance documentation.
- Maintain aircraft records, logbooks, and necessary documentation.
- Update and manage computer-based maintenance and inventory tracking systems.
- Oversee parts inventory, including ordering and receiving supplies.
- Provide technical support and guidance to team members.
- Participate in company training sessions as required.
- Operate assigned vehicles and equipment safely.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the hangar and work area.
- Carry out other assigned tasks as necessary.
- Comprehensive knowledge of the tools, methods, and equipment utilized in aircraft repair.
- Proficient in the operation of shop tools and machinery.
- Strong understanding of safe working practices.
- Ability to identify worn or damaged aviation components through inspection.
- Capability to adapt tools and repair parts to meet specific challenges.
- Ability to interpret and work from technical sketches, diagrams, and repair charts.
- Competence in following both oral and written instructions accurately.
- Ability to prepare and submit straightforward written reports.
- Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with colleagues and suppliers.
- Maintain a high standard of personal conduct and professionalism.
- Perform all job responsibilities safely, adhering to standard operating procedures.
- Exhibit exceptional customer service skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Significant experience (2 to 5 years) in helicopter maintenance or a related field, or a combination of education and experience.
- Valid driver's license.
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant License.
- Ability to successfully complete a comprehensive pre-employment screening, including background checks and drug testing.
- Preferred qualifications include completion of factory airframe/power plant training programs.
- Experience with FAR 135 operations is advantageous.
- Subject to drug and/or alcohol testing in accordance with DOT/FAA regulations.
