Job Summary

The Production Supervisor plays a critical role in the success of Building Automation Products by overseeing the manufacturing process and ensuring the efficient production of high-quality products. This position is responsible for managing staff on the production floor, coordinating resources, and implementing process improvements to meet or exceed key performance indicators.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Staffing and Supervision: Pre-screen applications, interview qualified applicants, and make hiring decisions in collaboration with the Manufacturing Operations Manager. Orient, train, and evaluate production floor employees, providing additional training as needed.
  2. Production Planning: Implement daily staffing plans and coordinate the daily work activities of floor employees based on production schedules.
  3. Quality and Safety: Comply with and ensure employees comply with company policies, procedures, and initiatives to foster a positive work environment on the shop floor. Enforce safety regulations as required by law and company policy.
  4. Process Improvement: Proactively address shop floor issues to ensure employees can efficiently complete their scheduled work. Monitor employees to ensure products are being built to specification, meeting quality requirements, and efficiency rates are being met or exceeded.
  5. Employee Development: Conduct verbal and/or written warnings as needed after review with the Manufacturing Operations Manager and HR. Conduct and complete employee 90-day and annual evaluations with line leads and deliver to employees after reviewing with the Manufacturing Operations Manager and HR.
  6. Support and Guidance: Provide support to line leads to ensure orders ship complete and on time. Assign production technicians to roles to cover for staff shortages or additional duties.
  7. Continuous Improvement: Participate in Gemba walks and follow up on open items as needed. Oversee the manufacturing and shipping processes and procedures. Motivate, support, and provide guidance to production and shipping staff.
  8. Collaboration and Communication: Work with the production team and manufacturing engineering to maintain efficient production workflow and set productivity goals for each work center. Support pilot runs and first-article orders, coordinating with product management and/or manufacturing engineering.
Improvement Initiatives
  1. Implement Initiatives: Implement initiatives based on approved changes. Ensure corrective actions are implemented and achieve the required results.
  2. Cost Reduction and Efficiency: Ensure cost reduction, efficiency, and quality improvement initiatives are implemented with approval. Utilize problem-solving techniques, process control, and continuous process improvement tools to meet or exceed key performance indicators.
  3. Quality Assurance: Work closely with the QA department, maintaining ISO 9001 requirements as needed.
Maintenance and Reporting
  1. Production Reports: Process daily production reports.
  2. Backorder Report Review: Complete backorder report reviews.
Additional Responsibilities
  1. Industry Knowledge: Maintain industry knowledge by attending educational workshops or classes, reviewing related publications, and establishing networks.
  2. Team Collaboration: Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed, including special projects and tasks as delegated by the supervisor.
