Position Overview:
The City of Valdez is currently seeking qualified candidates for the role of Law Enforcement Officer. This position plays a crucial role in maintaining public safety and enforcing laws within the community.

Key Responsibilities:
- Enforce local, state, and federal laws as well as municipal codes.
- Conduct regular patrols to respond to citizen requests, enforce traffic laws, and ensure overall public safety.
- Respond to both emergency and non-emergency calls, conducting investigations and gathering evidence as necessary.
- Manage incidents involving motor vehicle accidents, public disturbances, and life-threatening emergencies.
- Prepare detailed reports and documentation for court proceedings and investigations.
- Engage with the community through educational programs and outreach initiatives.
- Collaborate with other law enforcement agencies and city departments to achieve common goals.

Minimum Qualifications:
- An Associate's Degree in Criminal Justice or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Certification as a Police Officer by the State of Alaska Police Standards Council.
- A valid State of Alaska Driver's License and a clean criminal record.
- Additional experience may be required for certain specialized assignments.
