The position entails a wide array of responsibilities and, under the guidance of the manager, will act as a primary supervisor to guarantee the secure and efficient transfer of aviation-grade fuel, ultra-low sulfur diesel, and gasoline within the facility.

Key administrative duties include aiding the manager in planning, budgeting, documenting, evaluating, and enhancing operational processes. This role will also involve overseeing terminal operations in the absence of the Terminal Manager. Candidates should possess prior supervisory experience within the petroleum sector.

The Valdez Petroleum Terminal serves as a key shipping hub for products from the Petro Star Valdez Refinery, facilitating the transportation of fuel to various markets.


PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assist the Manager in ensuring safe and efficient operational and maintenance activities in line with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Prioritize the safety of all personnel and contractors.
  • Exhibit strong communication skills and proficiency in computer applications.
  • Collaborate effectively with team members and follow managerial directives.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrate strong organizational and inventory management skills.
  • Support the Manager in supervising, directing, and training staff to meet company and regulatory standards.
  • Understand specifications, quality assurance, and measurement procedures for all products.
  • Assist in planning and managing barge cargo loads.
  • Familiarity with pipeline components and the ability to maintain and repair equipment as necessary.
  • Comprehend the operation and maintenance of above-ground storage tanks and related systems.
  • Identify and implement process improvements as directed.
  • Provide consistent guidance on company policies and security responsibilities.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations at all levels.
  • Respond to emergency situations effectively.
  • Assist in maintaining procedures for spill prevention and response.
  • Support the development and management of the annual operating budget.

SUPERVISORY DUTIES

Execute front-line supervisory responsibilities in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws. Supervise other operators as directed by the manager, including assisting with hiring, training, and performance assessments.


EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE
  • High School Diploma or equivalent; secondary training in a skilled trade is advantageous.
  • Over five years of experience in petroleum pipeline or bulk fuel terminal operations.
  • More than five years of supervisory experience.
  • Valid Driver's License and current TWIC certification or eligibility.
  • HAZWOPER certification and confined space work experience.
  • Experience operating equipment such as loaders and forklifts.
  • Associate or Bachelor's Degree preferred.

LANGUAGE AND MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret safety and operational documents. Proficient in writing reports and communicating effectively with groups. Capable of performing basic mathematical operations and interpreting data.


PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT

This position requires the ability to perform essential functions in various environments, including an office, maintenance shop, and outdoor settings. The role may involve lifting and moving objects of varying weights and climbing to significant heights.
