Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Administrative Assistant to provide administrative support to the Construction Branch in Chesapeake, VA.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide administrative support to the Construction Branch, including receiving information, compiling and preparing specific responses and reports.
  • Routinely handle mailings, phone calls, in-person contacts and correspondence from agency personnel, citizens and government officials.
  • Make purchases and handle invoicing from contractors and vendors within allowable Agency guidelines.
  • Process requisitions, travel, reimbursements and small purchases.
  • Develop and update spreadsheets, databases and financial reports.
  • Produce time-sensitive monthly reports for overtime, manpower, project status and other construction functions as required.
Requirements
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience analyzing data.
  • Working knowledge of data entry and spreadsheet use.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize accordingly.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions and work independently.
  • Ability to think independently and draw relevant conclusions.
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
  • Valid driver's license.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Extensive experience with spreadsheets, databases, SharePoint, and word processing.
  • Combination of training experience or education in public administration, business administration or finance or a related field desired.
