Job Summary

The City of Chesapeake is seeking a highly skilled and organized Office Specialist to join our Human Resources Department. As a key member of our team, you will provide administrative support to ensure the efficient operation of our department.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide exceptional customer service to internal and external stakeholders, responding to inquiries and resolving issues in a timely and professional manner.
  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date human resource files, records, and documentation, ensuring confidentiality and integrity.
  • Assist with planning and execution of special events, such as benefits enrollment, organization-wide meetings, webinars, and employee recognition events.
  • Process employment verifications, invoices, and purchase orders, ensuring timely and accurate completion.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including data compilation for subpoenas and FOIA requests.
Requirements and Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; one year of college education in word processing, secretarial skills, or a closely related field preferred.
  • Minimum three years of full-time equivalent experience in administrative support, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and related software.
  • Valid driver's license and driving record in compliance with City of Chesapeake requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience in a fast-paced environment with varying deadlines.
  • Proficiency in PeopleSoft, Laserfiche, MUNIS, and CLICK software.
