Position Overview:
The University of New Mexico's Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC) is on the lookout for a dedicated and community-focused Community Research Specialist 2 to enhance our vibrant team.
Core Responsibilities:
The Community Engagement and Research Core (CERC) plays a pivotal role in facilitating connections between researchers and rural or underserved populations across New Mexico. Our services include:
- Community outreach and engagement
- Consultation and implementation for community-focused research projects
- Facilitation of qualitative interviews and focus groups
- Analysis of qualitative data and dissemination of findings
The CERC is equipped with expertise throughout the research continuum, promoting and expanding research initiatives within New Mexico's communities.
Ideal Candidate:
The preferred candidate will possess a solid understanding and experience in qualitative and community-engaged research methodologies. They should be detail-oriented, exhibit strong interpersonal and communication skills, and effectively collaborate with diverse university and community stakeholders.
Key Duties:
Under general supervision, the individual will utilize a comprehensive knowledge of research principles and practices to:
- Evaluate, select, and implement standard scientific techniques to fulfill various research assignments.
- Conduct research tasks involving multiple variables, employing scientific methods and technology that may include complex functions.
- Follow instructions regarding specific objectives and potential solutions for assignments.
- Collect, analyze, and interpret data, producing analytical and narrative reports, graphs, and infographics.
- Ensure the proper use and maintenance of equipment and supplies, while promoting continuous improvement in workplace safety and environmental practices.
- Design, execute, and/or oversee research projects and data collection to maintain data integrity, quality control, and adherence to protocols.
- Guide and mentor staff and students involved in related research support activities.
- Perform additional job-related tasks as assigned.
- Travel as necessary to support project needs.
- Work a flexible schedule to accommodate project demands, including occasional evenings and weekends.
Minimum Qualifications:
A Bachelor's degree with at least one year of relevant experience related to the specified duties. Higher degrees from accredited institutions may substitute for experience on a year-for-year basis.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficiency in Spanish, familiarity with NVivo software, and experience in drawing and processing blood are advantageous.

Pay: Monthly salary range of $3,589.73 to $5,040.53
