Position Title: Problem Solver and Outreach Worker

With a robust team of approximately 450 staff members and a significant budget, we are committed to delivering high-quality services that meet the urgent needs of our community.


PROGRAM & POSITION OVERVIEW


The Problem Solver and Outreach Worker plays a vital role in assisting homeless families within the community. This position focuses on engaging with families to provide advocacy, service planning, and stabilization support.


Key Responsibilities:

- Conduct assessments and triage families entering our services through various support methods, including mediation and relocation assistance.
- Facilitate outreach efforts to enhance housing retention and provide necessary referrals.
- Educate community members and service providers about available resources for homeless families.


Work Schedule: Flexible shifts of 8 hours between 7:00 AM and 7:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES


The responsibilities of the Problem Solver and Outreach Worker include, but are not limited to:

  • Engaging in community outreach to assist marginalized individuals facing housing challenges.
  • Ensuring accurate data collection and documentation for reporting purposes.
  • Verifying self-reported homelessness, which may involve outreach to encampments.
  • Participating in relevant program and community meetings.
  • Collaborating effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Accompanying families to appointments as needed.
  • Assessing family needs to establish realistic goals and provide support for various challenges.
  • Providing childcare and managing activities at the service access points.

Performance Metrics:

- Conduct a minimum of seven assessments weekly.
- Make at least five referrals each week.
- Achieve a successful problem-solving resolution weekly.
- Participate in one training session weekly.


QUALIFICATIONS


To excel in this role, candidates should possess:

  • Education or experience in trauma, domestic violence, mental health, or related fields.
  • A valid Class C California Driver's License with a clean record.
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and Spanish.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of social service resources available in the community.
  • First Aid/CPR certification within the first 90 days of employment.
