Position Title: Network Engineer

Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO

Relocation Assistance: Not available at this time

Remote/Telework: Not applicable for this role

Clearance Type: DoD Secret

Shift: Day shift (Monday to Friday)

Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time

Key Responsibilities:

The Network Engineer plays a vital role in supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. Responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing all aspects of a continuous 24/7 Global Network Operations Center, liaising with the MDA GNOSC event team, and supporting the GNOSC Mission Support Team.
  • Monitoring the MDA Enterprise Network utilizing tools such as Solarwinds/MicroFocus NNMi.
  • Addressing Remedy Incident Tickets and collaborating with clients to resolve network communication challenges.
  • Coordinating with DISA and DREN to identify and rectify network circuit problems.
  • Conducting Layer 1 cable troubleshooting and replacement, as well as Layer 2 port activations.
  • Providing basic troubleshooting for OSPF and BGP as required.
  • Modifying and provisioning QoS to support MDA events.
  • Assisting with basic Firewall troubleshooting under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Researching and documenting network architecture and configurations from data repositories.
  • Executing monitoring and surveillance of network, system, and cloud systems, along with incident management and MDA Cybersecurity.
  • Supporting service maintenance activities, including Change Management coordination during assigned shifts.
  • Developing event products and maintaining event baselines before and during events.
  • Managing IT incident management and escalation, ensuring effective communication of status and plans to executive management and the Government customer.
  • Collaborating with GNOSC Watch Officers and leading/training GNOSC MST personnel on IT incident management requirements.
  • Participating actively in Mission Execution Team working group meetings.
  • Assisting the MDA GNOSC Event team during Flight Test execution.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on network transport and service delivery for MDA/IC capabilities.
  • Coordinating with relevant IRES contract teams to ensure timely implementation and delivery of task order work products.
  • Managing the Mission Support Schedule to align CIO assets with event requirements.
  • Working with the GNOSC Manager and other key personnel to meet defined service levels.
  • Executing job responsibilities across varying shifts, including day and night shifts as needed.
  • Providing guidance and troubleshooting support in dynamic, time-sensitive scenarios.
  • Offering post-event recommendations and insights.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • One of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) with 8 years of general experience; Associate's degree with 6 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree with 4 years of general experience; Master's degree with 2 years of general experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Firewall configuration and troubleshooting, managing various network types, or VoIP Telecommunications infrastructures.
  • A current DoD IAT Level II Certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE Certification or higher.
  • An active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in metrics-based IT Operations and Maintenance (O&M) teams.
  • Familiarity with Remedy and SNMP monitoring tools.
  • Education or experience with ITIL framework and processes.
  • Hands-on experience in network engineering, including design and management of network components.
  • Experience in a network operations center or similar 24/7 IT Operations environment.
  • Knowledge of IT Network Operations and security practices.
  • Understanding of Cybersecurity principles and system/network security analysis.
  • Familiarity with Tier III Information Assurance practices and project management.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspection processes.

This position is expected to offer a salary range of $86,500 - $111,500 annually, based on experience, education, and relevant certifications.
