Key Responsibilities:
The Network Engineer plays a crucial role in supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) through the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. Responsibilities include:
- Overseeing all aspects of a continuous 24/7 Global Network Operations Center, collaborating with the MDA GNOSC event team, and executing network technician duties in support of MDA operations.
- Monitoring the MDA Enterprise Network utilizing tools such as Solarwinds/MicroFocus NNMi.
- Addressing Remedy Incident Tickets and collaborating with clients to resolve network communication challenges.
- Coordinating with DISA and DREN to troubleshoot and rectify network circuit issues.
- Conducting Layer 1 cable troubleshooting and Layer 2 port activations.
- Providing basic OSPF and BGP troubleshooting as required.
- Modifying QoS settings to support MDA events.
- Assisting in basic Firewall troubleshooting under the guidance of senior staff.
- Researching and documenting network architecture and configurations.
- Engaging in network, system, and cloud monitoring, incident management, and MDA Cybersecurity.
- Supporting service maintenance activities, including Change Management coordination.
- Developing event products and maintaining event baselines.
- Managing IT incident escalation and ensuring effective communication of status and actions to senior management and the Government customer.
- Collaborating with GNOSC Watch Officers and leading the GNOSC MST personnel on IT incident management.
- Participating in Mission Execution Team meetings and supporting Flight Test execution.
- Acting as a subject matter expert on network transport and service delivery for MDA/IC capabilities.
- Creating the 'Event Preparedness Checklist' for MA-1 events.
- Coordinating with other IRES contract teams to ensure timely delivery of work products.
- Managing the Mission Support Schedule to align CIO assets with event requirements.
- Working with leadership to meet service levels for IT Services.
- Adjusting shifts as necessary and providing guidance in dynamic troubleshooting scenarios.
- Offering post-event recommendations and insights.
Qualifications:
Basic Requirements:
- One of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) with 8 years of general experience; Associate's degree with 6 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree with 4 years of general experience; Master's degree with 2 years of general experience.
- 5 years of experience in Firewall configuration and troubleshooting across multiple network types (LAN, WAN, VxLAN, SDN) or managing VoIP Telecommunications infrastructures.
- A current DoD IAT Level II Certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE Certification or higher.
- An active DoD Secret Security Clearance.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience in metrics-based IT Operations and Maintenance (O&M) teams.
- Familiarity with Remedy and SNMP monitoring tools.
- Knowledge of ITIL framework and processes, including continual service improvement and change management.
- Hands-on experience in network engineering, including designing and managing network components.
- Experience in a network operations center or similar 24/7 IT Operations environment.
- Understanding of Cybersecurity principles and system/network security analysis.
- Knowledge of Tier III Information Assurance practices and IT security governance.
- Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including VIPs and dignitaries.
- Familiarity with Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspection processes.
This position offers a competitive salary range of $86,500 - $111,500 annually, commensurate with experience, education, and relevant certifications.
