Position Title: Network Engineer

Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO

Travel Requirements: Up to 10% of the time

Key Responsibilities:

The Network Engineer plays a vital role in supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The selected candidate will:

  • Oversee all aspects of a continuous 24/7 Global Network Operations Center, liaising with the MDA GNOSC event team, and supporting the GNOSC Mission Support Team and Network Operations Center.
  • Utilize monitoring tools such as Solarwinds/MicroFocus NNMi to oversee the MDA Enterprise Network.
  • Address Remedy Incident Tickets, collaborating with clients to resolve network communication challenges.
  • Coordinate with DISA and DREN to identify and rectify network circuit issues.
  • Conduct Layer 1 cable troubleshooting and replacement, as well as Layer 2 port activations.
  • Provide fundamental OSPF and BGP troubleshooting as required.
  • Adjust and provision QoS as necessary to facilitate MDA Events.
  • Under the guidance of senior personnel, engage in basic Firewall troubleshooting.
  • Research and document event-supporting network architecture from data repositories and configurations.
  • Implement monitoring and surveillance for network, system, and cloud environments, along with incident management and MDA Cybersecurity.
  • Assist in service maintenance activities, including Change Management coordination during assigned shifts.
  • Develop event-related products and maintain event baselines prior to and during occurrences.
  • Manage IT incident management and escalation, ensuring effective communication of status and actions to executive management and the Government customer.
  • Collaborate with GNOSC Watch Officers and Event Team, while leading and training GNOSC MST personnel on IT Incident Management protocols.
  • Participate actively in Mission Execution Team working group meetings.
  • Support the MDA GNOSC Event team during Flight Test execution, integrating contractors into the MET battle rhythm.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on network transport and service delivery for MDA/IC capabilities required for test execution.
  • Work with Network Operations Center staff to create the "Event Preparedness Checklist" for all MA-1 events.
  • Coordinate with other relevant IRES contract teams to ensure timely implementation and delivery of all task order work products.
  • Manage the Mission Support Schedule to ensure all CIO assets align with event requirements.
  • Work with GNOSC Manager and Event Team Lead to meet defined service levels for IT Services.
  • Collaborate with Change Management and leadership to ensure service levels are met and provide insights into event impacts.
  • Execute job responsibilities, which may include varying shifts between day and night as required.
  • Guide troubleshooting efforts in dynamic scenarios, collaborating with network, systems, and application engineers.
  • Provide post-event recommendations and inputs for "Lessons Learned" and "Hot Wash" sessions.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • One of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) with 8 years of general experience; Associate's degree with 6 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree with 4 years of general experience; Master's degree with 2 years of general experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in Firewall configuration and troubleshooting, various network types (LAN, WAN, VxLAN, SDN), or managing VoIP Telecommunications infrastructures.
  • A current DoD IAT Level II Certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE Certification or higher.
  • An active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in metrics-based IT Operations and Maintenance (O&M) teams.
  • Familiarity with Remedy and SNMP monitoring tools (e.g., Micro Focus/HPOV).
  • Education or experience with ITIL framework and processes, including continual service improvement and change management.
  • Hands-on experience as a network engineer, including design, implementation, and management of network components.
  • Experience in a network operations center or similar 24/7 IT Operations environment.
  • Knowledge of IT Network Operations and devices related to Public Key Infrastructure authentication and Information Security practices.
  • Understanding of Cybersecurity principles and system/network security analysis.
  • Working knowledge of Tier III Information Assurance practices and Cybersecurity compliance requirements.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including VIPs and dignitaries.
  • Familiarity with Quality Assurance/Quality Control Inspection processes.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $86,500 - $111,500 annually, based on experience, education, and relevant certifications.
