Position Title: Network Engineer

Location: Schriever Space Force Base, Colorado Springs, CO

Relocation Assistance: Currently unavailable

Remote/Telework: Not applicable for this role

Clearance Type: DoD Secret

Shift: Day shift (Monday to Friday)

Travel Required: Up to 10% of the time

Role Responsibilities:

The Network Engineer will play a vital role in supporting the Missile Defense Agency (MDA) under the Integrated Research and Development for Enterprise Solutions (IRES) contract. The responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing the operations of a 24/7 Global Network Operations Center, liaising with the MDA GNOSC event team, and executing network technician duties to support MDA events and exercises.
  • Monitoring the MDA Enterprise Network utilizing tools such as Solarwinds/MicroFocus NNMi.
  • Addressing Remedy Incident Tickets and collaborating with clients to resolve network communication challenges.
  • Coordinating with DISA and DREN to troubleshoot network circuit issues.
  • Conducting Layer 1 cable troubleshooting and Layer 2 port activations.
  • Providing basic troubleshooting for OSPF and BGP as required.
  • Modifying QoS settings to support MDA events.
  • Assisting in basic Firewall troubleshooting under the guidance of senior staff.
  • Researching and documenting network architecture to support events.
  • Executing monitoring and incident management related to network, system, and cloud systems.
  • Supporting service maintenance activities, including Change Management coordination during assigned shifts.
  • Developing event-related products and maintaining baselines during events.
  • Managing IT incident escalation and ensuring effective communication of status and actions to management and clients.
  • Collaborating with GNOSC Watch Officers and leading GNOSC MST personnel on IT incident management.
  • Participating in Mission Execution Team meetings and supporting the integration of contractors into event execution.
  • Serving as a subject matter expert on network transport and service delivery for MDA/IC capabilities.
  • Creating an "Event Preparedness Checklist" for MA-1 events in conjunction with Network Operations Center personnel.
  • Coordinating with other IRES contract teams to ensure timely delivery of work products.
  • Managing the Mission Support Schedule to align CIO assets with event requirements.
  • Working with leadership to ensure service levels for IT Services are met.
  • Adapting to varying shifts as necessary, located at Schriever AFB, CO.
  • Leading troubleshooting efforts in high-pressure scenarios, guiding staff across various disciplines.
  • Providing post-event evaluations and recommendations.

Qualifications:

Basic Requirements:

  • One of the following combinations of education and experience: HS Diploma (or GED) with 8 years of general experience; Associate's degree with 6 years of general experience; Bachelor's degree with 4 years of general experience; Master's degree with 2 years of general experience.
  • 5 years of experience in Firewall configuration and troubleshooting, various network types, or managing VoIP Telecommunications infrastructures.
  • A current DoD IAT Level II Certification such as CompTIA Security+ CE Certification or higher.
  • An active DoD Secret Security Clearance.

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience in metrics-based IT Operations and Maintenance teams.
  • Familiarity with Remedy and SNMP monitoring tools.
  • Education or experience with ITIL framework and processes.
  • Hands-on experience in network engineering, including design and management of network components.
  • Experience in a network operations center or similar IT Operations environment.
  • Knowledge of IT Network Operations and security practices.
  • Understanding of Cybersecurity principles and system/network security analysis.
  • Familiarity with Tier III Information Assurance practices and IT security governance.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences, including VIPs.
  • Knowledge of Quality Assurance/Quality Control processes.

This position offers a competitive salary range of $86,500 - $111,500 annually, based on experience, education, and relevant certifications.
