Job Summary

North Suffolk Community Services Inc. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced individual to fill the role of Peer Support Specialist Coordinator. This position is a critical part of our team, responsible for providing guidance and supervision to Peer Support Specialists, as well as participating in the recruitment, hiring, and evaluation of these specialists.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leadership and Guidance: Provide supervision and mentorship to Peer Support Specialists, ensuring they have the necessary support and resources to excel in their roles.
  • Program Development: Collaborate with ACCS management to develop schedules, provide guidance, and assist in the assignments of Peer Support Specialists within designated teams.
  • Training and Education: Assist supervisees with obtaining necessary certifications and education to complete job requirements, and develop and participate in pre-service and ongoing training for peer specialist staff and non-peer colleagues.
  • Advocacy and Community Engagement: Advocate for individuals with mental health and/or substance use disorders, and promote the use of natural supports within the community.
  • Recovery Oriented Services: Provide leadership in the implementation and use of WRAP or similar recovery oriented self-management plans, as well as other evidence-based practices.
Requirements
  • Education: High School Diploma/GED equivalent required, Bachelor's Degree preferred.
  • Experience: Experience working with adults who identify as having a mental health and/or substance use disorder, or with individuals with similar human-services needs.
  • Skills: Must be MAP and CPR/First Aid certified, Massachusetts Drivers License preferred, and have completed an accredited Peer Specialist Certification program.
