Position Overview:

The Assistant Store Manager in Training is responsible for acquiring the skills necessary to fulfill various roles, including Assistant Store Manager, Operations Assistant Store Manager, Night Operations Assistant Store Manager, and Specialty Assistant Store Manager. This position focuses on supporting the Store Manager in formulating strategies and objectives aimed at enhancing store sales and profitability. Trainees will develop effective leadership skills and learn to communicate effectively with Associates.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Customer Service Leadership: Supervise Associates in their sales efforts, ensure the store maintains an optimal stock level, and uphold a visually appealing and organized store environment. Trainees will learn essential techniques such as staffing, scheduling, addressing stock shortages, guiding Associates in sales practices, resolving customer inquiries, and supporting service needs for various sales.
  • Team Supervision: Engage in the hiring, motivation, coaching, training, and development of Store Associates. Trainees will also understand the performance management process, including conducting semi-annual performance reviews and managing disciplinary actions when necessary.
  • Operational Oversight: Manage front-end processes related to sales and returns, as well as special services and lot support. Trainees will also learn to oversee back-end operations, ensuring merchandise is received and stocked correctly, while maintaining and operating all store equipment and systems. Daily financial operations management and a thorough understanding of store standard operating procedures (SOPs), particularly regarding safety compliance, are also critical.
  • Business Analysis and Merchandise Planning: Drive department profitability through sales trend analysis. Trainees will collaborate with key partners to strategize merchandise placement and signage, as well as support stock integrity through effective inventory management.

Reporting Structure:

  • The Assistant Store Manager in Training will report directly to the Store Manager and will gradually take on supervisory responsibilities for Associates upon completion of their training.

Travel Requirements:

  • Overnight travel is typically less than 10% of the time.

Physical Requirements:

  • Most of the time is spent in a comfortable seated position, with frequent opportunities to move around. Occasionally, there may be a need to lift or move light items.

Working Environment:

  • Work is conducted in a comfortable indoor setting, with infrequent exposure to unpleasant conditions.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be at least eighteen years of age.
  • Must have legal authorization to work in the United States.
