The Patient Access Representative is responsible for ensuring a seamless registration experience for patients and families. This role involves verifying patient identity, collecting demographic and insurance information, and admitting patients to the hospital. As a key member of the healthcare team, the Patient Access Representative will work closely with clinical and non-clinical staff to provide exceptional patient care.
Key Responsibilities- Verify patient identity and select the correct patient record
- Review schedules and physician orders to register patients for the appropriate service
- Scan important documents, such as insurance cards and ID's, and verify and enter patient demographic and insurance information into the electronic health record
- Explain and complete complex regulatory and compliance documents, adhering to all applicable privacy and compliance standards
- Collect co-payments, deposits, and outstanding balances, and perform transactions securely
- Provide exceptional customer service, greeting patients and families, answering questions, and ensuring patients arrive at the correct service area at the right time
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
- Two Years of Customer Service and/or Data Entry Experience
- Proficiency in Keyboarding
- Associate or Bachelor's Degree in Lieu of Two Years of Experience
