Position Summary
As a dedicated faculty member, the individual will be responsible for teaching a total of 24 credit hours throughout the academic year, which may include both on-campus and online courses. The role also involves serving as the CPA Coordinator and engaging in research and service activities as outlined in the Academic Handbook and departmental norms. The primary focus will be on delivering high-quality instruction in Accounting at both undergraduate and graduate levels.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver comprehensive undergraduate and graduate-level Accounting courses, tailored to the needs of the department and the candidate's expertise.
  • Create engaging teaching materials, including syllabi and assignments, that align with the learning objectives and reflect the University’s Jesuit values.
  • Engage in scholarly activities, including research, publications, and conference presentations in the Accounting field.
  • Advise and mentor students, providing guidance for their academic and professional development while fostering a motivating learning environment.
  • Contribute to the development and assessment of academic programs in Accounting, including curriculum design and program evaluation.
  • Participate in institutional service, including departmental meetings, committee work, and community engagement initiatives.
  • Demonstrate expertise in relevant subject matter and assist students in connecting concepts across their academic pursuits.
  • Serve as the CPA Coordinator, instruct the Pathway to CPA course, and mentor students pursuing CPA certification.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Salary Range
$60,000 - $63,000

Qualifications

Education
A Master’s degree in Accounting, MBA, MS, or PhD in Accounting is required, with a preference for candidates holding a PhD.

Experience
  • Preferred 3-5 years of teaching experience in Accounting at the graduate and/or undergraduate level within a university setting.
  • Industry experience, ideally in a leadership or managerial capacity.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and database applications; familiarity with Blackboard and Ellucian Colleague systems is advantageous.
  • Ability to multitask and collaborate effectively with others; excellent verbal and written communication skills are essential.
Licenses
An active CPA license is required.

Working Conditions
Full-time position requiring a minimum of three days per week on campus; flexibility to accommodate the academic schedule, including occasional evening and weekend hours may be necessary.

  • Ability to remain stationary for extended periods.
  • Movement within the office and other locations for meetings and interviews is required.
  • Frequent operation of a computer for extended durations.
  • Effective communication with others in person and over the phone is essential.
  • Proficiency in spoken and written English is required.
