Position Overview:
The Cardiac Monitor Specialist is responsible for observing and interpreting cardiac rhythms through electrocardiograph monitoring systems. This role involves identifying irregular heart patterns and documenting any significant changes in heart activity. The specialist ensures the operational integrity of monitoring equipment and utilizes their expertise to achieve departmental objectives. This position operates under general supervision and requires a blend of creativity and analytical skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Monitor and analyze cardiac rhythms on electrocardiogram devices.
  • Document and report any irregularities in heart patterns.
  • Ensure that all monitoring equipment is functioning correctly.
  • Collaborate with healthcare team members to enhance patient care.
  • Utilize experience and judgment to meet operational goals.

Qualifications:

Experience:

  • Minimum: 0-1 years in a related field.
  • Preferred: 2-4 years of experience.

Education and Certification (Required):

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent.
  • Completion of EKG Interpretation/Dysrhythmia Course within 90 days of hire.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Technical School or 1 Year College education.

Essential Skills:

  • Proficient in basic computer operations.
  • Completion of Basic Dysrhythmia Class.
  • Experience in a healthcare administrative role or formal training in secretarial skills.

Preferred Skills:

  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Experience in interpreting cardiac rhythms.
