Key Responsibilities

  • **Leadership and Management**: Lead, mentor, and manage the day-to-day activities of the accounting department staff.
  • **Strategic Planning**: Develop and implement departmental policies, procedures, and strategies to enhance operational efficiency, accuracy, and growth.
  • **Performance Management**: Prepare budgets, financial reports, and forecasts by analyzing and organizing financial data.
  • **Compliance**: Ensure compliance with accounting policies, standards, and principles.
  • **Audit and Risk Management**: Oversee annual audits to maintain financial accuracy and integrity.
  • **Collaboration**: Collaborate with other departments to achieve financial objectives and delegate tasks as necessary.
  • **Financial Analysis**: Produce financial statements by monitoring and evaluating accounting data.
  • **Process Optimization**: Optimize systems and processes, initiating corrective actions when required.
  • **Record Keeping**: Maintain accurate fiscal records and documentation of transactions.
  • **Professional Development**: Stay current with industry knowledge by attending relevant workshops, conferences, and training.

Requirements

  • **Experience**: 3-5 years of prior experience as an Accounting Manager in the HOA or Community Management industry.
  • **Education**: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • **Skills**: In-depth knowledge of accounting regulations, practices, and standards; proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and financial ledger software; strong understanding of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP); exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and accuracy; advanced mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • **Certifications**: CPA license is a plus.
  • **Language**: Bilingual in English and Spanish is a plus.
  • **Authorization**: Must be authorized to work in the US.
  • **Background Check**: Must pass a background check meeting PHP Management Services LLC's criteria for this position.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands

The Director of Accounting and Financial Operations primarily works in an office environment but may need to travel to client locations for meetings. The role requires the ability to sit for extended periods, stand, walk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms and hands, talk, hear, stoop, kneel, and crouch. The incumbent must be able to lift or exert force of up to 15 lbs.
