Job Summary: MSI seeks an experienced Project Manager to oversee projects from planning to completion, ensuring timely and budget-friendly execution. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in HVAC&R systems, excellent communication skills, and the ability to manage and motivate employees.

Essential Functions:

  1. Exercises executive authority over project planning, direction, and control.
  2. Allocates and supervises material and personnel resources assigned to the project.
  3. Reviews plans and specifications for project implementation.
  4. Applies intensified management techniques to ensure compliance with contract and budget.
  5. Reviews project manpower requirements with Operations Department on a regular basis.
  6. Makes technical, personnel, and business management decisions as authorized by project charter.
  7. Works with general contractors and end-users to execute projects on time and under budget, with high quality.
  8. Prepares job estimates, change-orders, and required documentation.
  9. Conducts close liaison and coordination with vendors, general contractors, and sub-contractors.
  10. Reports project status to company leadership on a recurring basis.
  11. Maintains a safe work environment on all projects.
  12. Initiates monthly billing for jobs in process and develops a schedule of values for jobs in conjunction with estimates.
  13. Conducts bi-monthly safety meetings on jobs.
  14. Promotes and participates in education and training opportunities to meet company goals and objectives.
  15. Participates in quality associations with trade/business associations that enhance the company's mission or business plan.
  16. Maintains a Customer Sales log.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a two-year technical curriculum preferred.
  • A minimum of 5 years' experience as a mechanical project manager preferred.
  • A minimum of 2 years' experience in estimating and bid preparation.
  • Medium to large project experience a plus.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • In-depth knowledge of HVAC&R systems and related supporting utilities.
  • Ability to read and understand plans and specifications.
  • Knowledge of local and industry codes that regulate the HVAC&R industry.
  • Ability to effectively manage and motivate employees.
  • Good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Effective negotiator.
  • Computer skills in Excel and Microsoft Projects.
  • Estimating skills.
  • Trade-specific skills, including technical, pipefitting, and ductwork.
