Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical/HVAC Design Engineer 2 to join our team at Amentum. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing mechanical and HVAC systems for various projects at NASA's Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement mechanical and HVAC design solutions to support project requirements.
  • Design and develop plans, drawings, technical specifications, and documentation for mechanical and HVAC systems.
  • Apply cost-effective repairs, upgrades, or replacements to existing systems.
  • Collaborate with lead engineers and other team members to resolve technical problems and develop design solutions.
  • Perform field inspections and attend system start-up activities to ensure compliance with project requirements.
  • Assume the role of Project Lead Design Engineer for some projects and coordinate with internal and external customers.
  • Support the Configuration Management program and update existing configured drawings to reflect modifications.
  • Ensure that assigned projects are completed on time and within approved scope and budget.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering and a minimum of 4 years of experience in the areas defined in this job posting.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and integrated software application programs.
  • Ability to investigate, troubleshoot, and design solutions to problems using operational hardware and software.
  • Good communication and analytical skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Passing the Fundamental of Engineering (FE) exam.
  • Ability to pass and maintain a Security Clearance.
Work Environment

This position involves work typical of an office environment with no unusual hazards. Field work will consist primarily of site walk-downs in support of design projects and system trouble shooting.
