Position Overview:
The Division of Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine at Henry Ford Health is in search of a Chief to lead and inspire a team of 55 faculty members and 30 fellows across multiple locations.
Role Responsibilities:
The Chief will provide strategic oversight and direction for a comprehensive range of services addressing complex pulmonary conditions and advanced airway therapies.
This position is pivotal as the Division serves as a key referral center and manages the largest intensive care unit complex in the region.
The Chief will report directly to the Chair of the Department of Medicine and will oversee relevant services within the Henry Ford Medical Group.
Key Functions:
As a senior leader, the Chief will offer insights and guidance across five markets to ensure quality outcomes while exploring growth opportunities in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine.
Ideal candidates will possess a robust academic background and be ready to establish a thriving research environment focusing on clinical trials, quality enhancement, translational medicine, and population health.
Educational Leadership:
The Chief will advance the educational mission, ensuring a dynamic fellowship program and fostering an atmosphere of scholarly inquiry.
The Division oversees multiple outpatient clinics and four hospitals, necessitating close collaboration with clinicians and leaders within the health system to implement best practices for patient care.
Clinical Excellence:
The Chief will actively engage in clinical practice, providing exemplary care and setting a standard for others within the Division.
Faculty Development:
Responsibilities include developing a faculty advancement plan, advocating for innovative service models, and leading recruitment and retention efforts.
Leadership and Strategy:
The Chief will play a significant role in the operations of the Critical Care Unit and participate in departmental leadership to achieve strategic goals.
Engagement in divisional meetings and forums will be essential for effective communication and direction.
Partnership Development:
Building strong relationships with administrative counterparts is crucial for the success of the physician-administrative partnership.
Research and Innovation:
The Chief will promote multidisciplinary care and identify opportunities for innovative clinic operations, collaborating with research administration and other scientists.
Quality Improvement:
Support for quality initiatives is essential, with a commitment to achieving the highest standards of care.
Financial Oversight:
Participation in financial reviews and budget management will be expected to align with departmental and divisional objectives.
Qualifications:
Applicants must hold an M.D. or D.O. degree, be board-certified in Pulmonary & Critical Care Medicine, and possess an unrestricted medical license.
A minimum of 4-6 years in a leadership role within an academic setting is required, along with proven leadership skills and a history of medical education and research.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills are essential for engaging with diverse audiences and managing interdisciplinary teams.
