Position Overview

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervises and provides cross-training for accounting staff and the Vice President of Finance.
  • Conducts thorough reviews of monthly invoicing processes for all funding sources.
  • Oversees the preparation of monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports for funding partners.
  • Assists in maintaining accurate monthly entries within the Intacct accounting system.
  • Performs reconciliations for balance sheets and bank accounts on a monthly basis.
  • Supports the Vice President of Finance during month-end closing and the preparation of financial statements by analyzing monthly income and expenditures.
  • Responsible for evaluating monthly budget variances with department leaders.
  • Creates preliminary budgets for grants as required.
  • Collaborates with the Vice President of Finance and external CPA firms to prepare annual tax filings (5500, 990).
  • Assists in managing the company’s 403(b) retirement plan and its annual audit and compliance filings.
  • Coordinates with funder auditors as necessary.
  • Undertakes additional accounting and finance tasks as assigned.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to foster and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, demonstrating cultural sensitivity.
  • Familiarity with compliance standards set by the Florida Department of Juvenile Justice.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline is mandatory.
  • A minimum of three years of experience in accounting, preferably within the nonprofit sector.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 is essential.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct is highly desirable.

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent engagement in sitting, standing, and/or walking activities.

Compensation and Benefits:

Salary: $65,000

Employment Type: Full-time - 35 hours per week
