Key Responsibilities:
  • Supervises, cross-trains, and provides support to the accounting team and the Vice President of Finance.
  • Evaluates monthly billing processes for all funding sources.
  • Analyzes monthly, quarterly, semi-annual, and annual reports for funding partners.
  • Assists in maintaining monthly entries within the Intacct accounting system.
  • Conducts monthly reconciliations of balance sheets and bank accounts.
  • Supports the Vice President of Finance during month-end closing and the preparation of financial statements by reviewing and interpreting monthly income and expenditures.
  • Responsible for reviewing monthly budget comparisons for funders with department leaders.
  • Prepares preliminary budgets for grants as necessary.
  • Collaborates with the Vice President of Finance and external CPA firms to prepare annual tax filings (5500, 990).
  • Assists in managing the company’s 403(b) retirement plan and its annual audit and filings.
  • Coordinates with funder auditors as required.
  • Performs additional accounting and finance tasks as requested.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Strong organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Professional demeanor, dependability, and capacity to manage confidential information.
  • Sound judgment, a collaborative spirit, accountability, and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficient in MS Office Suite, particularly Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Able to establish and maintain effective working relationships with individuals from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds, demonstrating sensitivity to cultural differences.
  • Experience complying with Florida Department of Juvenile Justice regulations.
Education and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline is mandatory.
  • A minimum of three years of accounting experience in the nonprofit sector is essential.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365 is required.
  • Experience with Sage Intacct is preferred.
Physical Demands:
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, and/or walking is expected.
Compensation Package:

Salary: $65,000

Job Type: Full-time - 35 hours per week
