Position Overview:
The Veterans Affairs, Veterans Health Administration is seeking a dedicated Clinical Dietitian to join our Nutrition and Food Services team. This role is pivotal in supporting the MOVE Weight Management Program, focusing on delivering exceptional nutritional care to our Veterans.
Key Responsibilities:
The selected candidate will engage in a comprehensive approach to healthcare, emphasizing a Whole Health System of care. Responsibilities include:
- Conducting thorough nutrition assessments utilizing the Nutritional Care Process (NCP) to identify nutrition diagnoses and evaluate malnutrition risks.
- Designing and implementing Medical Nutrition Therapy (MNT) tailored to individual patient needs, while continuously monitoring and adjusting interventions for optimal outcomes.
- Calculating dietary requirements and managing dietary restrictions, ensuring safe food and drug interactions.
- Documenting all MNT activities in the medical records following the Assessment, Diagnosis, Intervention, Monitoring, Evaluation (ADIME) framework.
- Collaborating with interdisciplinary teams to enhance the nutritional care provided to Veterans.
- Providing nutrition education and counseling to both individuals and groups, ensuring that the information is relevant and accessible.
- Utilizing virtual care technologies to expand access to nutritional services.
- Maintaining productivity standards and participating in team meetings to discuss patient care strategies.
Work Schedule:
This position operates on a Monday to Friday schedule during administrative hours.
Telework:
Regular telework is available, allowing for flexibility in work arrangements.
Qualifications:
Applicants must be U.S. Citizens and proficient in English. A valid RDN credential from the Commission on Dietetic Registration is required. Candidates without this credential may be considered for temporary appointments under specific conditions.
Physical Requirements:
Participation in a pre-employment examination may be required to assess physical capabilities related to the position.
This role is essential in fulfilling the mission of the Veterans Health Administration to provide exceptional healthcare to our Veterans, enhancing their health and well-being through personalized nutritional care.
