We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Laboratory Assistant II to join our team at the University of California, Irvine. As a key member of our laboratory team, you will be responsible for processing and analyzing specimens, maintaining laboratory equipment, and ensuring the highest level of quality and accuracy in our work.
Key Responsibilities- Pick up and log in specimens, load processors, and sort multiple specimens
- Change processors, organize supplies, and maintain a clean and organized workspace
- Print labels and worksheets, wash plastic supplies, glassware, and metal molds for blocks
- Assist with equipment maintenance, inventory control, filing, and answering phones
- Process cytology specimens, including GYN, Non-GYN, FNA, and Histology samples
- Appropriately stain cytology or histology samples and maintain stainers
- May assist with transcription or other office tasks as needed
- Two years of applicable experience
- Minimum 16 units of applicable Science (such as Chemistry, Biology) and Algebra at the college level
- Knowledge of medical computer software systems
