Clinical Internship Program Overview

Casa de la Familia's Clinical Internship Program provides a comprehensive training experience for post-graduate students pursuing a doctorate in psychology. Our program is designed to equip interns with the theoretical and experiential foundation necessary for future professional work in mental health and social services.

Program Goals
  • Provide training in evidence-based practices
  • Develop interns' knowledge and skills in clinical settings
  • Prepare interns for competency in the mental health system
Training Structure

The Clinical Internship Program is a 12-month commitment, with a minimum of 20 hours per week. Interns will work collaboratively with our interdisciplinary clinical team, participating in training sessions, group therapy, and individual therapy. Our program includes in-house presentations on intervention strategies, best practices, and community partnerships.

Training Topics

Recent training topics have included Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), legal aspects of domestic violence and human trafficking, immigration law applied to victims, engagement with children and families, child sexual abuse treatment, sand play therapy, psychopharmacology, LGBTQ+ clinical issues, human trafficking, and the intersection between domestic violence and human trafficking.
