What does the role entail?

The Financial Operations Manager is tasked with directing both the financial strategy and the daily accounting functions of the organization. The ideal candidate is prepared to engage in routine accounting tasks while also providing insights for process enhancements to optimize financial practices and systems. The primary responsibilities of this position include:

  • Supervise and manage daily accounting functions with utmost confidentiality, including:
    • Monthly and annual closing processes
    • Accounts payable and receivable
    • Cash management
    • General ledger maintenance
    • Cash flow forecasting
    • Variance analysis of revenue and expenses
    • Check processing
    • Handle financial documentation such as invoices, manual checks, and reporting journals, including data entry into the company’s software systems.
  • Establish and maintain financial records to document transactions accurately.
  • Compare sales and profit forecasts against actual figures and budgeted expenses; make or oversee necessary adjustments to future forecasts and budgets.
  • Provide oversight for payroll in collaboration with HR as a backup.
  • Direct the preparation of all financial statements, including income statements, cash flow statements, balance sheets, and budgets.
  • Implement and oversee accounting and internal control policies and procedures.
  • Guide and approve the development of corporate and property-level budgets.
  • Monitor purchasing activities, collection of accounts receivable, and tax payments.
What qualifications and skills are essential for success?
  • A bachelor’s degree in accounting or a related discipline; equivalent work experience will be considered. A master’s degree in accounting or a related field is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in managing business financials in an accounting capacity; experience as an Accounting Manager is highly preferred.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and adept at using company software programs.
  • Experience with AccPac is highly desirable or the ability to learn quickly.
  • Commitment to maintaining the highest level of discretion, confidentiality, and professionalism.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Exceptional attention to detail.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Critical thinking and problem-solving skills for task completion.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage deadline pressures effectively, executing responsibilities with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in a small business environment is a plus.

What does the work schedule look like?
