Position Overview

LMI is seeking qualified candidates for the role of Expert Systems Engineer to provide support for a key client within the Intelligence Community. This role is based in the northern Virginia area and involves engaging directly with clients in a full-time capacity.

The successful candidate will focus on application development and maintenance, particularly within cloud environments. Candidates should possess strong programming skills and be adept at managing and configuring cloud resources for optimal performance. Additionally, the role includes engineering support for tracking hardware devices and software licenses associated with various peripheral devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Execute tasks related to systems engineering and provide additional support as required by the client.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in a Linux environment, including effective use of the Linux terminal.
  • Create and update tablet images for antivirus and operating system enhancements, as well as re-baseline tablets prior to reuse.
  • Assist in maintaining hardware inventory levels and support the research and procurement of next-generation tablets, printers, and other peripherals for training purposes.
  • Provide assistance in tracking hardware devices and managing software licenses for standalone tablets.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess the following skills, certifications, and experience:

  • Experience with client systems.
  • Proficiency in maintaining web servers.
  • Familiarity with IIS and Nginx.
  • Experience in managing General server and Storage (S3) volume management and backups within AWS.
  • Knowledge of managing clusters, database user permissions, and maintaining replication in MongoDB.
  • Understanding of authentication and authorization systems and standards.
  • Knowledge of web security standards.
  • Familiarity with network systems and protocols.
  • Awareness of security requirements for standalone devices.
  • Active TS/SCI clearance with polygraph.
  • A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree.
  • Experience with Linux.

Preferred Skills

While not mandatory, the following skills and experiences are highly desirable:

  • Experience with Unix scripting, Perl, PowerShell, Python, Ruby, or similar technologies.
  • Familiarity with unicode and multilingual computing technologies.
  • Experience in creating, maintaining, and implementing workflows.
  • A degree in Systems Engineering or a related field.
