Job Overview

OBJECTIVE:

The Community Engagement Manager role is designed to spearhead and execute a continuous schedule of networking and charitable events, strategic volunteer programs, and peer-to-peer as well as business-to-business interactions. This position plays a crucial role in enhancing the visibility and understanding of Thompson's mission through collaborative partnerships and community-driven initiatives. The incumbent will act as the main liaison for all departmental and community efforts.

Compensation: $45,000 annually

  • Represent the organization both internally and externally through effective communication and conduct.
  • Implement trauma-informed practices in interactions with clients, colleagues, and leadership.
  • Oversee a portfolio of expanding community and corporate volunteer initiatives, including one-time and recurring engagements, fundraising events, educational activities, and local community events.
  • Ensure a minimum of two coordinated corporate engagement opportunities each month, twelve asset package events annually, and two major community-sponsored events.
  • Demonstrate the ability to establish and maintain relationships with community partners, corporate and individual donors, and volunteers.
  • Attend scheduled events, whether in-person or virtual, and manage all necessary details involving partners, registration, volunteer coordination, and donor interactions.
  • Build relationships with corporate representatives and direct potential partners and donors to the appropriate members of the Development team.
  • Design and execute effective solicitation strategies to enhance first-time and ongoing financial support, under the guidance of the Director of Development.
  • Work within approved departmental budgets to manage events and achieve targeted fundraising goals.
  • Actively participate in networking and community events to build relationships and increase market awareness.
  • Travel as necessary for volunteer engagements and corporate partnership events.
  • Assist in the planning and coordination of special events throughout the fiscal year.
  • Collaborate with the Development team and program leaders to create and implement an additional 10-15 recurring volunteer activities for the community.
  • Work with the Community Engagement Manager and Chief Development Officer to prepare and execute corporate and community engagement events that result in philanthropic contributions.

Qualifications:

  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Valid Driver's License and compliance with any relevant credentialing and licensing standards.
  • Educational requirement: BA/BS Degree.
  • Position is Hybrid/Remote, with residence in the Charlotte area.

A minimum of two years of relevant professional experience in non-profit development or a similar environment, with at least two years in event and volunteer coordination or hospitality preferred.

  • Strong analytical skills and above-average computer proficiency.
  • Ability to articulate the mission and vision of programs effectively from the start.
  • Flexibility to work varied hours, including nights and weekends as needed.
  • Sales experience is a plus but not mandatory.
