Chief Operating Officer for Markets Treasury in the Americas

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) for the Regional Markets Treasury (MKTY) is responsible for partnering with the Regional Head of MKTY to define the regional business strategy and engage with stakeholders across MKTY and associated sectors to translate this into a streamlined execution strategy and actionable implementation plans.
- Establish governance frameworks and processes that are in alignment with group standards.
- Work closely with the Regional Head of Strategy Execution & Control (Global Treasury) and other Operating Committee (OPCO) members to ensure that business operations meet the highest standards of operational excellence, governance, and accountability, while implementing global standards and spearheading transformation initiatives.
- Oversee regulatory liquidity, funding, transferred risk, and enhance profitability.
- Analyze risk, Profit and Loss (P&L), Risk Weighted Assets (RWA), cash-flow, and liquidity reports pertaining to the regional balance sheets.
- Manage operational loss incidents, Management Self-Identified Issues (MSII), internal audits, regulatory challenges, local processes, and control frameworks, addressing issues to meet group standards and sharing insights with OPCO members for risk mitigation.
- Execute the change agenda, including regulatory modifications affecting MKTY.
Qualifications:
- A Bachelor's degree or its foreign equivalent in finance, accounting, or a related discipline, accompanied by 10 years of experience in the banking or financial services sector.
- In the absence of a Bachelor's degree, 5 additional years of relevant work experience will be accepted.
Must possess 10 years of experience in:
- Comprehensive system architecture in global markets operations.
- Knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and hedge accounting for both US & International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Understanding of interest rate risk and foreign exchange risk management.
- Expertise in P&L, valuations - including fixed income and currency (both cash and derivative products), end-to-end trade flow, non-financial risk frameworks, and governance practices.
