Job Title: Senior Underwriting Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Underwriting Technician to join our Large Property team at Sompo International Holdings Ltd. As a leading provider of insurance and reinsurance, we recognize the importance of our people in driving our success.

About the Role

The Senior Underwriting Technician will be responsible for maintaining service standards by timely response to broker and internal/external partner requests. This includes providing backup to other Underwriting Associates as necessary, maintaining file integrity, and initiating, completing, and sending quote letters to brokers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Maintain service standards by timely response to broker and internal/external partner requests
  • Provide backup to other Underwriting Associates as necessary
  • Maintain file integrity by ensuring all necessary documents are filed in ImageRight
  • Initiate, complete, and send quote letters to brokers
  • Review and resolve premium discrepancies; help other Underwriting Associates with premium discrepancies
  • Pull loss reports
  • Create, register, process, and distribute binders, policies, and endorsements within processing standards established by management
  • Complete pricing model (where applicable and as directed)
  • Serve as first point of contact for loss control and claims
  • Communicate directly with brokers to confirm or obtain data needed for policy issuance and servicing
  • Assist with premium audit discrepancies (casualty specific)
  • Review and analyze facultative reinsurance certificates as determined by management
  • Participate in workflow and process improvement initiatives
  • Responsible for Underwriting Analysis
  • Assist with underwriting audits and reviews
  • Track various metrics to ensure the team is upholding our white glove service standards
  • Handle special projects as assigned
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years of experience as a technical underwriting associate with similar duties
  • Bachelor's Degree Preferred, and/or insurance institute coursework pursued
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Computer skills including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Access, Adobe Acrobat
  • Able to multi-task and communicate well
  • Demonstrated planning and organizational skills
