Job Summary

Phlebotomist

At South Central Regional Medical Center, we are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Phlebotomist to join our team. As a Phlebotomist, you will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth operation of our laboratory.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Maintain a clean and safe phlebotomy area, monitoring inventory and restocking supplies as needed.
  2. Follow proper PPE and safety protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  3. Monitor lab patient registration and check-in status, interacting with patients to ensure they are registered and accounted for.
  4. Retrieve and review patient paperwork and supplies prior to escorting them to the phlebotomy area.
  5. Collect specimens according to policies and procedures, verifying specimen integrity and minimizing patient discomfort.
  6. Process specimens for in-house and send-out testing, accurately documenting collection information into the computer system.
  7. Follow all laboratory policies, procedures, and regulations.
  8. Offer to assist colleagues in other areas of the lab once assigned work is completed.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive patient information.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; phlebotomy certification preferred.
