Job Summary

Boise State University is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Educational Development Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Center for Teaching and Learning, you will play a vital role in supporting faculty development, consulting on effective pedagogy, assessment, and course design, and assisting with strategies for student success.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with the Director of Educational Development to design and implement programs in support of faculty development, including workshops, consultations, and coaching.
  • Consult with individual instructors to analyze their needs and determine goals for support of their development as effective teachers.
  • Design and facilitate pedagogy workshops for educators, focusing on topics such as teaching with technology, active learning, and universal design for learning.
  • Contribute to the delivery of CTL programming, including events, webinars, and online resources.
  • Engage with current trends and technologies in the field of higher education through participation in conferences, professional organizations, and professional development opportunities.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree and 2 years of professional experience or equivalent relevant experience.
  • Experience with and knowledge of effective teaching strategies, including tools and strategies in areas such as teaching with technology, active learning, and universal design for learning.
  • Ability to draw from the literature around effective teaching and faculty development to inform work.
  • Strong verbal, written, and visual communication skills, as well as effective facilitation and consultation skills.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Advanced degree (PhD, EdD, or terminal degree in a discipline).
  • Ability to facilitate professional development in various formats for professional audiences, including facilitating in-person and virtual events.
  • Experience teaching in higher education settings.
