Job Overview

Work Schedule: Services are required Monday through Friday, with operational hours from 5:00 a.m. to 12:00 a.m. Shifts may vary, ranging from two (2) to thirteen (13) hours, with a thirty (30) minute unpaid lunch for shifts exceeding six (6) hours. Weekend and holiday work may also be necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Function as a Molecular Technologist, conducting high-complexity testing within the PCR Laboratory.
  • Perform RNA/DNA analyses to detect viruses in various biological samples.
  • Execute qualitative and quantitative assessments of cell surface markers and intracellular antigens for diagnosing hematologic malignancies.
  • Ensure compliance with accreditation standards and regulatory protocols.
  • Contribute to team objectives regarding standardization and realignment, while evaluating and monitoring testing procedures.
  • Conduct Flow Cytometry analyses to support patient staging and diagnosis.
  • Utilize specialized knowledge for advanced molecular testing procedures.
  • Operate automated laboratory instruments proficiently.
  • Establish normal ranges and conduct correlation studies on laboratory instruments.
  • Prepare necessary reagents and solutions for testing.
  • Assess specimen suitability for analysis and manage specimen preparation.
  • Perform quality control reviews and address any discrepancies in results.
  • Correlate test outcomes with patient history for accurate reporting.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive internal Quality Control Performance Improvement program.
  • Analyze quality assurance data using statistical methods.
  • Implement best practices for blood collection based on patient needs.
  • Transport specimens to appropriate laboratory sections and perform centrifugation.
  • Adhere to Infection Control standards while interacting with patients.
  • Follow OSHA and Personal Protective Equipment guidelines consistently.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor of Science Degree from an accredited institution.
  • Certifications: Certification as a Molecular Technologist (MT-ASCP) or Medical Technologist (MT-AMT).
  • Recommendations: Two letters of recommendation from professionals attesting to clinical skills.
  • Board Certification: ASCP or AMT certification required.
  • Licensure: Current certification as a Medical Technologist or Molecular Technologist.
