Position Overview
The Retail Operations Manager Trainee will gain comprehensive knowledge of daily store operations, team management, financial oversight, and compliance with safety and merchandising standards in a retail environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional service to customers and donors.
- Maintain high standards of customer relations and service quality.
- Oversee and manage the store's financial budget effectively.
- Ensure proper processing of donated goods from receipt to display.
- Accurately handle sales transactions and ensure secure management of funds.
- Report operational and safety metrics in a timely manner.
- Collaborate with various departments within Evergreen Goodwill as necessary.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety in the store and surrounding areas.
- Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
- Promote a culture of safety by training staff on safety protocols and reporting hazards.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Supervisory Duties
This role includes supervisory responsibilities in line with company policies and legal regulations, such as recruiting, training, and evaluating staff performance, as well as addressing employee concerns and resolving issues.
Qualifications
To excel in this role, candidates should possess:
- A high school diploma; a bachelor's degree is preferred.
- A minimum of two years of experience in a retail setting, including at least one year in a supervisory capacity.
- Experience in warehouse operations is advantageous.
- Familiarity with basic accounting and bookkeeping practices.
- Strong collaborative skills and the ability to work with a diverse team.
- Knowledge of the retail competitive landscape.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).
- A valid driver's license and proof of insurance.
Physical and Mental Requirements
This position requires the ability to sit for extended periods, communicate effectively, lift items up to 35 pounds, and operate computer systems. Candidates should also possess strong leadership, analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Work Environment
The role is based in a retail and production environment, with potential exposure to dust and the need for reliable transportation for offsite meetings.
