The Registered Therapist II engages in moderately complex therapeutic rehabilitation activities and treatment. Responsibilities include therapeutic recreation, music therapy, art therapy, dance/movement therapy, drama therapy (based on credentials), psychosocial session planning, and conducting Functional Skills Assessments. Additional duties encompass maintaining inventory, equipment, instruments, and ensuring cleanliness of the designated area. The Registered Therapist also provides guidance to therapy technicians who facilitate therapeutic activities for clients.

The Registered Therapist is expected to exemplify appropriate role-modeling behaviors in the presence of patients and staff, supporting the Recovery Based Program.

The position grants access to a limited set of records in compliance with HIPAA regulations. The role operates under general supervision, allowing for moderate discretion in the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Additional Responsibilities:

Responsibilities may include actively participating in or supporting the agency's obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations (COOP) activation, which may necessitate alternate shift patterns or locations.


Key Responsibilities:

Regular attendance is required, with potential requests for specific shift schedules, rotating shifts, extended hours, or overtime in accordance with agency leave policies.


Assess individual rehabilitation functional skills to inform personalized program planning. Develop, implement, and adjust individualized treatment plans (including collaborative goal setting and treatment activities). Conduct initial assessments for all individuals admitted to the facility.

Discuss prospective program modifications with supervisors and communicate these changes to relevant program staff. Establish consistent feedback mechanisms to adapt programming based on the evolving recovery needs of individuals.

Maintain inventory, equipment, instruments, and cleanliness of the assigned area, ensuring accountability for all assigned property.

Serve as a role model and provide ongoing technical guidance to both professional and para-professional staff in the development and execution of Rehabilitation Therapy programs, ensuring alignment with program goals focused on person-centered, recovery-oriented, trauma-informed care.

Clarify program objectives, conduct sessions, oversee program implementation, and initiate corrective actions as necessary.

Adhere to HIPAA guidelines when completing all required documentation. Assist technicians in creating activity calendars for their specific program areas.

Attend and engage in mandatory departmental meetings, training sessions, and performance improvement initiatives.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Familiarity with principles and techniques of rehabilitation therapy across diverse patient populations.

Understanding of discipline-specific therapeutic modalities in the recovery process.

Knowledge of implementation and documentation of individualized care and recovery plans.

Proficiency in approved methods of facilitating and interacting with individuals.

Awareness of health, safety, and infection control protocols.

Knowledge of performance and quality improvement activities or techniques.

Skills in using rehabilitation and orthopedic equipment, materials, and tools.

Skills in evaluation, treatment planning, and documentation of patient progress.

Proficiency in operating computers and relevant software.

Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.

Ability to plan, develop, implement, and facilitate treatment-focused therapy groups.

Ability to motivate and engage individuals in rehabilitation activities and adapt as necessary.

Ability to observe, evaluate, communicate, and document individual progress.

Consistency and empathy in interactions with patients.

Ability to conduct assessments and maintain confidentiality.

Ability to respond calmly and appropriately in stressful situations.

Ability to design therapy programs.
