Job Title: Education Advocate-Equity Outreach

Fox Valley Technical College is seeking a dedicated Education Advocate-Equity Outreach to join our team. As a key member of our student services department, you will play a vital role in developing and implementing equitable transition and retention strategies to support students in achieving their academic goals.

Job Summary:

The Education Advocate-Equity Outreach will collaborate with student services personnel, instructional faculty, college leaders, and community resources to identify and connect with students who are at risk of not completing their programs. You will provide targeted services, including personalized guidance, case management, and referrals to college and community resources, to support students in overcoming obstacles and achieving academic success.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with service agencies and school districts to identify and connect with students who are at risk of not completing their programs.
  • Provide targeted services, including personalized guidance, case management, and referrals to college and community resources, to support students in overcoming obstacles and achieving academic success.
  • Develop and implement programs and strategies to increase student transition and retention to programs, working closely with Student Services staff and program faculty.
  • Provide wraparound support, including financial literacy, academic assistance, and career counseling, to support students in achieving their academic goals.
  • Assess and quantify the outcome of programs and strategies developed for student retention and success, evaluating personnel and college resources involved in the process and providing recommendations and feedback.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field (Psychology, Student Development, etc.) required.
  • A minimum of two years of recent, related experience working with students in providing advising and/or guidance in a college educational or transitional program.
  • Demonstrated experience working with and leading faculty and counselors in assisting students in developing personal plans, establishing career, educational, and/or employment objectives, and steps/services needed to accomplish.
  • Demonstrated experience with developing and using collaborative relationships and identifying and engaging necessary resources to facilitate the accomplishment of work goals.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with a diverse student population and knowledge and experience regarding the needs of students with multiple educational barriers.
  • Ability to assess outcomes, quantify results, and prepare reports.
  • Ability to read, write, and speak a second language is preferred.
  • Flexibility in schedule is required, including nights and weekends.
  • Experience with Student Information Systems is preferred.
