About the Role


The Anchorage School District seeks a dedicated High School Assistant Manager I to oversee the efficient operation of high-volume kitchen and cafeteria areas in its high schools. This role involves ensuring the timely preparation of diverse meal programs, adhering to food safety guidelines, and supervising school cafeteria staff.

Responsibilities
• Oversee the management of food and supply inventories, ordering, production records, cash handling procedures, bank deposits, and submission of required paperwork to the Student Nutrition office.
• Familiarize yourself with USDA and State guidelines for meal pattern and service requirements.
• Assist in monitoring and recording kitchen equipment temperatures, proper food heating and cooling times according to Hazard Analysis Critical Control Points (HACCP) requirements.
• Maintain regulations pertaining to sanitation and food safety practices.
• Confirm proper food serving techniques and portion controls are maintained.
• Ensure timely meal program preparation, organize work assignments for kitchen staff when necessary, and adhere to Student Nutrition Department and Anchorage School District policies and procedures.

Requirements
• A high school diploma or equivalent; two years of related work experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement.
• Three years of responsible experience in large-scale food service operations, including food preparation, proper food handling, and food safety and sanitation.
• Two years of supervisory experience, including planning and directing employees' daily work schedules and tasks.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and basic math skills.
• Ability to attend an eight-hour ASD Serving It Safe food safety class and pass the associated examination within 21 calendar days from date of hire.

Preferred Qualifications
• Evidence of training in kitchen responsibilities.
• Experience working with food service point of sale and inventory management systems.
• Previous food service experience as a manager.

This role is performed in a professional environment with diverse groups of people in various settings. You will be regularly exposed to video displays, outdoor weather conditions, and moderate noise levels.

Compensation
Anchorage School District offers a competitive salary range of $$$65,000 - $$80,000 per year
