Position Overview

The Laser Cutting Technician is responsible for the safe operation of laser cutting equipment used in the production of diverse manufacturing products. This role involves collaboration in both design and production discussions, ensuring effective communication across different manufacturing departments, quality assurance, and management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Operate, program, and troubleshoot tube laser machinery.
  • Conduct inspections of initial pieces and document part dimensions according to engineering specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery as instructed.
  • Support the company's quality initiatives and assist in workload scheduling to maximize machine efficiency.
  • Identify and report defective materials or potential issues to the Team Leader or Supervisor.
  • Maintain a clean workspace and adhere to established safety protocols.

Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and work instructions, including the Employee Handbook, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Manufacturing Operating Procedures (MOPs), Job Safety Analysis (JSAs), and Safety Manual.

Maintain awareness of your contributions to quality, safety, environmental, and product compliance policies; report any quality concerns or unsafe conditions to the appropriate personnel.

Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED; or equivalent experience.
  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • At least 3 years of experience operating, programming, or repairing laser machinery.

Skills required include:

  • Ability to read, write, and follow both oral and written instructions.
  • Capacity to work effectively in a team and engage with a diverse workforce.
  • Physical ability to lift up to 50 lbs. unassisted.
  • Proficiency in using various tools and measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, tape measures, dial indicators, and feeler gauges.
  • Able to stand, walk, bend, stoop, and crouch for an 8-hour shift.

Must possess the dexterity to handle machinery, equipment, or parts and work in proximity to moving mechanical components.
