Job Overview

Bay Ridge Assisted Living Center is currently seeking a motivated and enthusiastic individual to fill the role of Culinary Specialist (Full-Time). This position is essential in providing quality dining experiences for our residents within a senior living environment.

Position Details

This role involves working weekdays and alternating weekends, with a full-time commitment that includes rotating holidays.

Compensation: Hourly wage ranges from $14 to $16, depending on experience.

Qualifications

Applicants should possess experience and training in professional culinary arts, along with relevant certifications. It is essential to maintain knowledge of food safety and sanitation standards, as well as an understanding of dietary needs specific to the elderly population. Candidates must demonstrate excellent cooking abilities, strong mathematical skills for recipe adjustments, and exceptional organizational skills to ensure timely meal preparation and service.

Additional requirements include:

  • Ability to pass state-mandated background checks and drug screenings.
  • Minimum age of 18 years.
Key Responsibilities
  • Prepare and serve meals in accordance with established guidelines and regulations, ensuring timely service at the appropriate temperatures.
  • Offer alternative menu items when requested by residents.
  • Maintain accurate documentation regarding food temperatures and usage.
  • Monitor resident satisfaction with meals and adjust offerings based on feedback.
  • Ensure compliance with dietary orders and monitor residents' nutritional status.
  • Assist in supervising kitchen staff and uphold high standards of food quality using fresh, local ingredients.
  • Report any equipment malfunctions promptly.
General Responsibilities
  • Act as a representative of the living center, fostering a positive environment.
  • Participate in safety drills and training sessions.
  • Collaborate effectively with colleagues across shifts.
  • Maintain confidentiality and respect residents' rights.
Physical and Mental Requirements
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Capability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
  • Ability to work in varying temperature conditions.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
Compensation and Growth
  • Competitive hourly wage with potential for increases based on performance reviews.
  • Starting pay is determined by experience, ranging from $14 to $16 per hour.
